Electrical Muscle Stimulation

Estim

Electrical muscle stimulation is a mild electrical current applied at the site of soft tissue injury. The electrical current creates a gentle “pumping” action in the muscles, which reduces the swelling in the tissue.  The electrical signals also block the messages to the brain from pain-sensitive nerve endings, resulting in reduced pain sensations. The electrical current also stimulates the muscles to promote muscle tone, balance spinal musculature, and speed the healing process. The current also stimulates the release of endorphins within the body – which are your body’s natural pain relievers.
